Ancient oak, preserved beneath the ground for thousands of years, set into a modern titanium ring. Our Titanium Bog Oak Inlay Ring combines the deep, earthy tones of genuine British Bog Oak with the clean lines of a handmade titanium band. Choose between Bog Oak from the English Fenlands or Ayrshire in Scotland, then personalise the ring with your preferred inlay width, finish and optional precious metal accents.

Made to order in our Aberdeenshire workshop, the titanium band is machined and finished by Graeme, while Katie prepares the Bog Oak and creates the inlay by hand.

What is Bog Oak?

Bog Oak is ancient oak timber preserved for thousands of years in waterlogged, oxygen-poor ground. Over time, the conditions surrounding the wood change its colour, producing the rich browns, charcoal tones and near-black grain that make this material so distinctive. The grain belongs to the original oak; its dark appearance comes from its long history beneath the ground. We offer two British sources, each with its own connection to the landscape.

Fenland Bog Oak – England

Our Fenland Bog Oak comes from the historic wetlands of eastern England. Oak trees that fell thousands of years ago were preserved beneath the peat-rich ground, where the timber gradually developed its characteristic dark colouring. Its visible grain gives each inlay a natural texture and depth.

Ayrshire Bog Oak – Scotland

Our Ayrshire Bog Oak comes from Scotland's historic peatlands. Like the Fenland material, it spent thousands of years preserved in oxygen-poor conditions, developing its own shades and grain. This option is particularly appealing if you would like your ring to include a material with a Scottish connection.

Both sources are genuine Bog Oak. The exact colouring and grain vary from piece to piece, so your finished inlay will have its own appearance.

Choose a 1mm or 2mm Bog Oak inlay

For a fine, understated line of dark wood, choose the 1mm inlay. If you would like the Bog Oak to be more prominent, the 2mm inlay gives its colour and grain more space to show.

Katie carefully prepares the Bog Oak, places the material by hand into the channel and seals it beneath a clear resin finish. The inlay is finished smooth with the surrounding titanium, keeping the ancient wood visible within the band.

Add copper, silver or 24ct gold flakes

For a different look, you can add fine metallic accents to the Bog Oak inlay. Choose copper for warm, earthy highlights, 925 silver for a cool contrast, or 24ct gold for small flashes of rich colour against the dark wood. These optional flakes are incorporated into the inlay alongside the Bog Oak rather than replacing it.

Polished or satin titanium

Choose a polished finish for a brighter, more reflective titanium surface or a satin finish for a softer, brushed appearance. Both finishes complement the darker Bog Oak inlay, allowing you to decide how much contrast you want between the wood and the metal.

Handmade to your specifications in Scotland

Graeme machines each titanium ring to your selected size and width, prepares the inlay channel and completes the metalwork in our Scottish workshop. Katie then creates the Bog Oak inlay, including any optional metal flakes you have selected. Together, we make each ring to order rather than using a pre-finished, mass-produced design.

Titanium is a lightweight, corrosion-resistant metal, making it a comfortable choice for a wedding ring or an everyday band. You can personalise your ring through its Bog Oak source, band width, 1mm or 2mm inlay, metal accents, finish and engraving.

Engraving, sizing and delivery

Standard internal engraving is included if selected. For handwriting engraving, please contact us first to check suitability and space. A free ring sizer is available so you can confirm your size before we begin making your ring, and free tracked UK delivery is included with your order.

Caring for your Bog Oak ring

Clean gently with mild soap and warm water, then dry with a soft cloth. The sealed inlay keeps the Bog Oak visible beneath its smooth, clear finish.
